In the Spring of 2023, the Georgia Institute of Technology launched the First-Generation Shadow Program. With a grant from the Ford Motor Company Fund and in collaboration with the First-Generation Initiatives office on campus, the Career Center was able to secure over 80 individuals from 39 companies from all industries in the metro- Atlanta area who were willing to have Georgia Tech students shadow them for the day. The pilot program matched 148 students with those hosts. During the presentation, we will hear from the program coordinator, Camille Liverpool, and her process of launching the pilot program, including sourcing hosts, matching students, and assessing the program.The audience will also hear the host/employer perspective from a fellow employer and SoACE member, Karen McGrath from Mansfield Energy.
